The Trained Alexandrines have been performing faithfully for 15 years here at Parrots In Paradise, and prior to that we traveled all over for 5 years.
They have happily worked for many bus groups and visitors over the years. In that time we used positive reinforcement, rewarding them with praise and treats after a trick. Our parrots were never punished when they did not perform.
Knowing the birds are having a ball is great fun for the young and old. The bird's ability to solve puzzles and evidence of cognitive thought has to be seen to be believed.
But time has taken it's toll on not only the parrots but also on the humans.
So it was decided to do one final show for a professional vidographer in order to capture all of the show in spite of our losing one of our parrot team to a stroke and another to cataracts.
The Videographer was able to cobble in the missing performers tricks thanks to old videos.
So now when you visit you get the show in it's entirety. Nothing is missed.
We can do nothing about Lena who was taken by the stroke. But Kelele, who has cataracts will, once he is fully blind, will be given an eye operation, because this bird gave faithfully of himself for 20 years, and he will likely live at least the same again, so he deserves to be able to see in that time. So we are saving to get the $4000 for his operation.

Parrot Boarding
Parrots in Paradise will board your birds when you need a break, giving them everything they'll need to be comfortable.
FIRST AND FOREMOST THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS YOU MUST GET YOUR BIRD VET CHECKED AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR BIRD IS DUE TO ARRIVE AT PARROTS IN PARADISE.
THIS INCLUDES BLOOD TESTS for PBFD and Psittacosis
WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO TAKE BIRDS IN ON SHORT NOTICE,
BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF BIRDS BEING BOOKED.
Early Bookings essential as each holidays we are getting more and more birds.
Please don't assume that because you have booked before there will automatically be a place for your bird.
Each day, boarders receive fresh feed, a cage cleaning and human attention in a safe and stimulating environment. We love birds here and treat every animal in our care as if it were our own.
We take the health and welfare of our own birds and yours very seriously and require you to provide a vet's letter stating your bird has clearance and is well and healthy at the time of appointment. The letter must be dated no more that 10 days before intended stay.
The set down and pick up times are daily between
9 am and 10 am OR 3 pm and 4 pm.
Pricing depends on the size of the bird, requirements, and the amount of time they're staying.
Late bookings will incur extra cost.
Elderly and special needs birds are extra, depending on the amount of extra detail involved.
